Her­man Diephu­is trained as a dan­cer at the Mudra school, foun­ded by Maurice Béjart, before com­ing to France to work with Régine Chopinot.
He then danced with the com­pan­ies of Phil­ippe Decou­flé, François Ver­ret, Jérôme Bel, François Ver­ret, Xavi­er Le Roy, Alain Buf­fard, and most not­ably Math­ilde Mon­ni­er (since 1984), before embark­ing on a career as a cho­reo­graph­er with his own com­pany (ONNO), foun­ded in 2004.
In 2017, he co-cho­reo­graphed the trio Goin’ Down with Naomi Fall and cre­ated the cho­reo­graph­ic sec­tions of the opera Le Timbre d’ar­gent (music­al dir­ec­tion by François-Xavi­er Roth, staged by Guil­laume Vin­cent). He was invited by the Insti­tut Français du Congo to cre­ate the show Jazz et Vin de Palme.
Along­side this, he devel­ops cre­at­ive pro­jects with ama­teur per­formers, includ­ing It’s My Party (2018), Plus ou moins 20 pour com­men­cer (douce­ment) (2018), Brain­storm­ing (2012), and La Liber­té guid­ant Romain Rolland (2011).
In 2020, he became an asso­ci­ate artist at the Centre Choré­graph­ique Nation­al de Caen en Nor­man­die with Michel Schweizer.
He also con­trib­utes his per­spect­ive as an artist­ic col­lab­or­at­or for cho­reo­graph­ers such as Math­ilde Mon­ni­er, Raphaëlle Delaunay, and Maud Le Pladec. He works reg­u­larly with Dalila Khatir (vocal coach and per­former), with whom he co-cre­ated the show Et main­ten­ant quelque chose de com­plète­ment différent in 2019.
